Hillsborough Arena Sports Association Ltd is a registered charity established in 1998. We are a community recreational and social centre, owned, managed and used by the people of the local area.
Originally built with National Lottery funding, the Arena was designed to support grassroots sport and for many years was home to rugby teams, athletics, junior football clubs and local schools. Over time, the venue has evolved to support a wider range of community activity alongside sport.
As a charity, we receive no government funding. The upkeep and running of the Arena is funded through the activities we host and the partnerships we work with, allowing us to keep the venue affordable and accessible for community use.
The Arena is also home to several in-house day services, including Inspired, Sapphire Project and Inspirations Sheffield, alongside other community organisations.
Our Community Interest Company, The Park View, manages room hire, events and conferencing and operates a fully licensed bar and café. It delivers over 300 events each year, with all profits reinvested back into the Arena to support its ongoing operation and community use.
The charity continues to facilitate sporting and recreational activity on site, including use of the full-size football pitch and all-weather MUGA pitches.
Hillsborough Arena is a large site used by a wide range of community organisations. We offer free on-site parking and benefit from excellent transport links, with Supertram and main bus routes directly outside and easy access to the city centre and the M1.
Licensed for up to 280 people, the venue includes a fully licensed bar, catering facilities, a main hall, seminar room and three changing rooms. Outside, there is a large grassed events space, one adult football pitch and two 3G MUGA pitches.
